The API calls for starting instances (e.g. RunInstances) should take an optional argument for a user-defined name for the instance, i.e. a new metadata field that is reported back in the instance details.

This is useful for applications who need to track instances they created to ensure that they never lose track of one of their instances, even if they do not receive the response to the create request.
